Integrate NT Event Logs into Unix syslogd
Many large organizations operate Unix syslog based management systems. These
systems have been implemented long ago and work wonderfully. The central syslog
daemon is the source of all monitoring and alerting in these
environments.
With the growing demand for Windows NT / 2000 solutions, one problem
arises: These systems log critical events to their native Event Log. This
unfortunately can not be forwarded to Unix (or other OS's) syslog hosts.
Adiscon's EventReporter solves the issue: EventReporter processes the NT Event
Logs, parses them and forwards the result via syslog protocol to a central
syslog server. It runs on all flavors of Windows NT and 2000 as well as ALPHA
processors.
EventReporter enables you to fully integrate Windows solutions into your
existing syslog monitoring and alerting environment. Lots of customers of
all sizes are using the product all around the world. There is a free, full
featured evaluation version of EventReporter available for download. It is
installed quickly and easily. So there is no excuse for not trying it!
There is also an article
available on how to integrate Windows NT / 2000 / XP event logging into a Unix /
Linux syslogd based management system.
Do you have no central syslog daemon? Centralized reporting is still
available. Please have a look at EventReporter's email
forwarding capabilities. Or install one! Adiscon's WinSyslog is an
