Problems with EventReporter 4.0 Setup Program
Erftstadt, Germany, July 5th, 2000.
Adiscon has today detected that there is a problem with the
EventReporter setup program in some NT environments. In these
environments a reboot is required. When re-starting the setup program after the
reboot, it will fail with a "Type Match" error. We are currently
investigating the exact cause of this problem. Fortunately we already have been
able to reproduce the problem in our lab. So we are expecting to have a solution
very soon.
The problem occurs with the "Full Install" download only.
The "engine only" version does work without any problems. Upgrading
customers experiencing this problem are encouraged to try the "engine
only" version as a workaround.
We will update this page as we know more specifics. Please revisit it
from time to time.
1pm UTC: The problem seems to be related to a bug in Visual Studio Package
and Deployment Wizard. We are currently downloading a Microsoft service pack
intended to fix it. The download will take roughly 3 hours.
4:30pm UTC: We have downloaded the patch and begin to deploy it.
9pm UTC: We have a temporary new install set that is right now being
posted on our web site. Full tests will be made tomorrow, but chances are
good it will work under all circumstances.
2000-July-06, 6am UTC: So far, we have received very positive customer
feedback on the new install set. The problem seems to be fixed. However, we will
run our extended test suite among the new install before finally stating it as
OK. That will most likely take until noon. It is fairly
safe to assume that the current "full install" download set can be
used without problems.
2000-July-06, 10am UTC: All tests went well,
the new install set is OK. Please see our specific news
release on the fix.
