FAQ

Does EventReporter support DBCS character sets (e. g. Japanese)?

We need to display double byte character sets like Japanese (SJIS) or Chineese. However, these messages are not correctly received at our syslog daemon.

EventReporter 5.0 supports double byte character sets. However, all versions earlier then 4.2 do not properly support them. If you experience problems with these versions, you need to upgrade to a more recent version.

Another reason you experience problems on the syslog might be character encoding. EventReporter does send out all messages SJIS encoded. Under Unix (and Linix), EUC-JP is expected and SJIS is not correctly interpreted. We are currently working on this issue. Today, there is no fix for it. EventReporter 5.1 will be able to (optionally) encode in EUC-JP. A beta of this version is expected during January, 2001.
