EventReporter 5.0 announced
Erftstadt, Germany, November 29th, 2000.
Adiscon today announced version 5.0 of EventReporter. EventReporter
is a powerful monitoring tool for Windows NT and Windows 2000. Sold since 1997,
it is in use at a large number of sites world-wide - at both small and large
enterprises.
"We are very excited about this new release", says President
Rainer Gerhards, "it is another major advance in system monitoring. The new
local pre-filtering of events allows for even reduced resource usage and higher
scalability."
"We are proud to announce this exciting new release at IT
Asia Millenium together with our partner Allindianet.
This further strengthens our commitment to serving the global market."
EventReporter 5.0 is a good global citizen. As part of Adiscon's
ongoing internationalization strategy, EventReporter 5.0 offers a multi-language
enabled client. Currently, English, German and Japanese messages are supported.
The client is architectured around Adiscon's XML based multi-language interface.
As such, additional languages can be added very easily - customers interested in
another local language can contact Adiscon directly.
"The best possible customer experience is our goal", says
president Rainer Gerhards, "as such, we are very happy to announce a number
of new international resellers right at this time. They serve our global
customers based on their local customs. Among the very first partners are Port139
in Japan, Wirefly
in Finland and AllIndiaNet
in India."
EventReporter monitors Windows NT and 2000 event logs. It forwards the
information found in these logs to either syslog servers (syslog daemons) or
email recipients. EventReporter does local filtering of events, so that only
important events can be forwarded.
In smaller environments, EventReporter relives the administrator from the
burden to regularly check the Windows event logs. Actually, many
administrators do not check the logs. So EventReporter also improves the
reliability of Windows systems as important events will not be left unnoticed.
In larger environments, EventReporter is typically used as a tool for
heterogeneous system integration (especially in Unix environments). Syslog
delivery is used to send messages to a single central syslog daemon which in
turn is used as the main event source for administrative actions. In such
scenarios, the syslog based event system is already in place and EventReporter
enables administrators to integrate Windows management in their usual
environment.
EventReporter runs on all flavors of Windows NT, including NT
Workstation (or Windows 2000 Professional). It does not run under Windows 9x (as
there is no event log).
EventReporter 5.0 is already available as beta 2 from Adiscon's download
area. The final release is expected within 2 weeks.
